Featured Employee of the Week
Steve C., Operations Director, Newark, DE.
Hi! I’m Steve.
I am the Operations Director at Newark, DE, and I have been with AMS since August 2020.
My proudest work accomplishment at AMS is turning a warehouse from its early beginnings and an inexperienced team into a profitable establishment. Profits like this keep employees working and our company successful. Way to go, Newark!!!!!
I’m not sure if I would call her a mentor but I would have to say my wife is the person who has helped me advance in my career. For the 27 years we have been married, she has read hundreds of personal and business development books. We have had extensive conversations on communicating clearly, having balance in your schedule, deciding who you want to BE as an individual, and the list goes on and on and on. Her constant and authentic words of encouragement and consistent belief in me push me to reach my next level. We challenge each other to be our best and strive for excellence.
My biggest goal and focus in the workplace is encouraging my team to work with excellence and believe in themselves. I want them to understand how important they are to the team and be proud of a job well done.
The most challenging assignment I’ve done at AMS piggybacks off my proudest accomplishment which was training a brand-new inexperienced team and establishing a profitable warehouse.
Something I wish I would have learned and understood sooner is that competence instills confidence. What this means to me is that the more you do something, the easier it gets, and this builds your confidence. When you have confidence in yourself and your abilities, the sky’s the limit.
Now let’s have a little fun!
A mantra I live by is “if you don’t climb the mountain, you can’t see the view!”
Something that would surprise my coworkers is that while on a mission trip to the Dominican Republic to help build a water house for a small village in San Jose, I had a wild tarantula crawl onto my head.
What am I passionate about? You mean more like, what am I not passionate about because I’m passionate about everything.
My favorite hobbies outside of work include fishing, mountain biking, shooting pool, bowling, hunting, riding my Harley, playing hockey, golfing, and the list goes on. I’m passionate about all of it and my family that I get to do it with.
I don’t have a favorite family recipe, but I can grill one heck of a ribeye.
Since I am a forward thinker, the three things I would bring to a deserted island are a boat large enough to handle the rough seas, and enough food and water to make the trip back to the mainland.
Thank you, Steve, for growing with AMS!
