“Freight Freak” John B: Update on the Supply Chain

Supply Chain - John B - AMS FulfillmentIt is clear we are living in unprecedented times. Over the last few months, the world has become a very different place with the ongoing pandemic of COVID-19. Companies have had to adapt quickly and change the way they operate in a much more secluded environment. AMS is among those companies. We have adopted a safe operating plan, along with a thorough contingency plan to ensure the continuation of shipping products safely for our clients. With that said, AMS’s first and foremost priority is caring for the health and welfare of our co-workers, vendors and customers. It is our #1 priority at all times.

Equally clear is the fact that we will get through this pandemic. It will take a lot of discipline, some strength, stamina and especially some innovation to get through as unscathed as possible. From here on, it’s the logistics and shipping piece I would like to address, specifically the small parcel industry, which is the backbone of our eCom deliveries. As one can imagine the situation is very fluid and changing almost daily. For the most part the carriers seem to have very few restrictions domestically, if any. Mostly, what we are experiencing is extra delivery days for certain areas, with most of the restrictions on international shipping.

FedEx and UPS have suspended our money-back guarantee for all services effective immediately until further notice. Also suspended is Signature Required for most shipments. Click Here for the latest updates.

As of April 6th FedEx has also implemented a temporary Surcharge for all International Express shipments ranging from .22-1.00 per shipment. UPS has yet to follow suit on any surcharges. Click Here for the latest updates.

DHLeCom/Global has only had interruptions to the international service at this time. Because the situation is constantly changing, we ask that you refer to the daily COVID-19 International Service Update document, available on the Customer Web Portal, for the most current information on suspended countries. Click here. You will need a login and password, which can be provided by your account manager. Otherwise you can contact me for the latest update at [email protected].

USPS, operating amid false rumors of a possible shut down, has implemented many safety policies for the carriers to maintain safe distance when delivering mail and packages. Their interruptions of service are mainly international at this time. Click Here for the daily updates.

We continue to look forward to much brighter days ahead of us, and we wish everyone safety and good health during this challenging time. AMS Fulfillment will do its best to keep the supply chain moving, our employees safe, and our clients and their customers happy.
