AMS Contributes Gift Bag Fulfillment

Los Angeles, CA, October 20th, 2010 (PressReleasePoint) – It’s good news when a fundraising event has so many participants the organizers cannot possibly to build all of the gift bags that will be needed. It’s good news as well when a fulfillment company responds to their dilemma and offers gift bag fulfillment as their way of contributing to the event. When AMS President, Jay Catlin, learned that gift bag assembly had become an overwhelming task for the LA Cancer Challenge volunteers, he stepped in and offered the company’s help.

Catlin said, “When Teri Velona of the Hughes Family Foundation brought the gift bag concern to our attention, we saw it as an opportunity to contribute to a great cause by doing what we do best!” Ken Wiseman, AMS CEO agreed and added, “It’s a privilege to help a charity so close to our hearts. We’ve all been affected by cancer in some way, even here at AMS.”

The LA Cancer Challenge benefits the Hirshberg Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer Research. The foundation was established 13 years ago by Agi Hirshberg in honor of her husband, Ronald Hirshberg. Agi Hirshberg’s desire was to fund much needed research on the disease that took her husband’s life, a disease that continues to be one of the most fatal and least funded of all cancer types. Teri Velona, speaking of her appreciation for the contributions of AMS and other donors to the LA Cancer Challenge, said, “My dad died from pancreatic cancer just under three months after diagnosis. I won’t stop until we find a cure for this disease. It’s now eleven years later, and I know what I’m doing won’t bring my dad back, but I’m here to fight it for others.”

The 13th Annual LA Cancer Challenge is a 5K and 10K run/walk scheduled to take place on Sunday, October 31, 2010 on the Veterans Administration Grounds in West LA. There is also a Kids Can Cure Fun Run, open to children under the age of 13 which is approximately 1K. Visit the LA Cancer Challenge online at LACancerChallenge.com
